Roue Libre is a musical project by composer Maël Bailly and the contemporary music ensemble 2e2m. The aim is to use sound to celebrate the festive, joyful, noisy and industrious nature of the bicycle. Three 'solo' bicycles mounted on workshop stands are played by three percussionists, and are used as first-rate musical instruments. The clicking of derailleurs, the tinkling of spokes, the screeching of objects on spinning rims, and the melodies of tools falling to the concrete floor are all part of the sound universe in this original piece.
