GUILHEM TERRAIL

The French counter-tenor, Guilhem Terrail, starting his career as a baritone, and discovers his voice as counter-tenor in 2007. In 2013, he won Prix D’honneur Chant at the Concours International De Musique Et D'art Dramatique Leopold Bellan

An accomplished musician, pianist and choral conductor, Guilhem Terrail performs with equal success Baroquec, contemporary or Romantic music. It so happened in 2012 in Thanks to my eyes by Oscar Bianchi directed by Leo Warynski with the Ensemble Modern, replacing, at short notice, Hagen Matzeit in the title role of the opera, in the Festival Musica de Strasbourg. He performed in March 2013, the alto solo parts in Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) by J.S. Bach in the Chapelle Royale de Versailles with Ensemble Pygmalion directed by Raphaël Pichon. He could be heard in Elias by Felix Mendelssohn, also under the direction of Raphaël Pichon at the Festival de La Chaise-Dieu, or in Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) by J.S. Bach at the Temple du foyer de l’âme, as part of the complete J.S. Bach's cantatas.

Guilhem Terrail has performed as a soloist in various cantatas of J.S. Bach, Mass in B minor (BWV 232) by J.S. Bach, Seven Last Words of Christ by J. Haydn, Vespers by Monteverdi, several cantatas by George Frideric Handel, and Maurice Duruflé's Requiem under the direction of Jerome Corréas, Ariel Alonso and Philippe Le Fèvre.
