ANDREAS FISCHER

Andreas Fischer studied Voice and Music Education in Stuttgart and in Vienna. Even as a student, his interest in contemporary music and working closely with composers had become a central aspect of his work. He has performed in numerous world premieres as a member of the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart and as a soloist and conductor.

He is particularly interested in music theatre. In 2000, he sang the role of Perseo in the opera Perseo e Andromeda by Salvatore Sciarrino at the Festival d’automne in Paris, in 2001 the title role in the world premiere of the opera Bacon by Manuel Hidalgo at the Schwetzinger Festspiele, and in 2003 the role of the Benefactor in the world premiere of Hilda Paredes' opera The Phantom Palace at the Festival of Arts and Ideas in New Haven, Conneticut and performed all bass parts in the world premiere of Brian Ferneyhough’s Shadowtime at Munich Bienale, at Festival d’automne Paris, at the English National Opera in London and at Lincoln Center Arts Festival in New York.

With the role of the father in Chaya Czernowin’s opera Zaide/Adama he debuted in 2006 at the Salzburger Festspiele. With the same production he gave a guest performance at the Theater Basel in 2007 and in spring 2008 performed again in the re-production of the same opera at the Theater Bremen; followed by premieres of Enno Poppe’s opera Arbeit, Nahrung, Wohnung and Aura, the opera by José Maria Sanchez-Verdú. In summer 2010 he sung in Chaya Czernowin’s opera Pnima...ins Innere at Staatsoper Stuttgart.
