Francesco Filidei has written a new Ballata in response to a commission from Radio France. Whereas last season saw the first performance of the fourth, for viola da gamba, this one establishes the pedigree of the harmonica, an instrument rarely associated with today's music, played by the exceptional virtuoso Gianluca Litera. Also on the programme: two Italian composers, rising figures on the European scene: Francesca Verunelli (1979) and Clara Iannotta (1983).
