Soprano
Shigeko Hata commenced her studies in Japan and won first prize in the French Vocal Music Competition in Osaka in 1998. Three years later she continued studying at the Paris Conservatoire under Peggy Bouveret, graduating with distinction in 2005. She has attended several masterclasses, where her teachers have included Nathalie Stutzmann, Margreet Hönig, Hartmut Höll and Teresa Berganza. She won the Nadia and Lili Boulanger prize together with pianist Karolos Zouganelis and the Toulouse International Singing Competition with Michael Guido at the piano. Her achievements in recent years include a recording with the Magnifica Brass Quintet, the first performance in Japan of Heinz Holliger's Six Orchestral Songs, and the opera Imademo by Czech composer Ondrej Adámek in Marseilles. She has also has sung the title role in Madame Butterfly at the opera house at Saint-Étienne and the role of Pamina in a concert version of the Magic Flute in Paris.
